Barbeque Restaurant in Carvoeiro

Post by bradybunch »

Does anyone know of a restaurant up towards Monte Carvoeiro somewhere that does a barbeque where you can eat and drink as much as you want? Someone told us of such a place but we have been unable to find it.

Think it might be 'O Boteco'. You walk up the hill past 'Casa Dalcassian' (The old ruin.)(The house, not me!) Turn right at the top and continue on. It's on your left hand side. I know they have a BBQ but I've only seen Sardines being BBQed there.
Ah sure, it's a nice walk anyway!

No I know" O Beteco" and it's not that one.Aparantly this barbeque place has been run by an elderly couple and their family for years and they barbeque all meats fish etc., and for about 10euros you can eat and drink as much as you like. The mystery continues....

Hi Bradybunch,
I think you mean Escondadinha's ( excuse the poor spelling ) . It's towards the back of Quinta do Paraiso but I am not sure exactly where. I'm sure a taxi driver would know it. I went there once a few years ago and it was great. Pretty basic but the food was good ( we went on chicken night ) and as you say , very cheap.
Hope this helps,

Craig

I was once to a place about 10 years ago, but that was if you go up the Estrada do Farol and then taking the uphill street on the left side

I found this place by accident last year. If you go towards the Carvoeiro Tennis Club so it is on your right hand side, go past it and keep going it is on your right either just before or just after the Windmill House. Each time I've past though during the day its been closed so not sure what time it opens or if you would have to book.

Escondidinho is at the back of Quinta do Paraiso - if you go past QDP reception on your right, follow the road up the hill, then turn left, it is on your left just as the road bears right towards the Golden Club.

The place just after the Windmill House is Restaurant Original. Good food, friendly staff and good value for money. Casa de pasto O Escodidinho is on the north side of Quinta do Paraiso. No BBQ, but always a simple menu. Price always 7,50 for a complete meal, including wine. Thursday night is chicken piri-piri night. Booking a table is necessary.
