Checking out property before purchase

Hello,

After a number of trips to Algarve I have decided that Carvoeiro is the right location for a little ‘pied a terre’ (or the Portuguese equivalent!) where I can escape the worst of the dreadful UK climate.

I’ve just returned from a viewing trip and have found somewhere I’m interested in but as it appears to need a little TLC, I’d like a professional to give it the ‘once over’ to make sure I don’t lumber myself with a lifetime of repair bills.

Can anyone recommend a good, English speaking surveyor in the area? Or is the use of some other kind of property professional (valuer? Builder?) the norm when purchasing in Portugal?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Stuart advised he only covers Almancil area so has recommended Ian Rostron at mop53322@mail.telepac.pt if anyone else is looking for a surveyor in Carvoeiro.

I have references to Peter Dansham, he did a very good job for my colleague's client. To my knowledge, for a house in Carvoeiro Club area, the service charge would be around 450 Euros.

Thanks for the responses - I contacted Ian Rostron in the end and he did the inspection and provided a report within a couple of days. Also reduced his quoted charge as the property was smaller than he'd anticipated!
