WALK - MONDAY 27 OCTOBER 2025 - Pine forests and baragems

[Linda and Russell]

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk. We head out into a remote quiet valley with lots of pine trees and a couple of baragems. It will be shady in the pine forest and soft underfoot. The walk is about 10 kms and on good tracks. There are gradual uphills but nothing too steep. There are 3 x lots of bee hives which we pass but should be okay at this time of year. Bring a pole if you use one, a drink and wear good footwear, walk at your own risk and no charge.

Meeting point: Cafe Pasto Riba E Serra, Rasmalho. Meeting time: 9.15am.

Directions to meeting point: Exit the N125 at Portimao following the sign to Monchique. At the roundabouts keep following the sign for Monchique. You will come onto the N266, then pass a petrol station on the left. After a km you will come into Rasmalho and the cafe is on the left hand side.

Please park on the right hand side as we will car share to the start of the walk which is 3kms further along.

The cafe should be open for coffee before the start.

If you would like to stay for lunch after the cafe do a standard Portuguese menu for around 13 euros with drinks included.

A nice small group of 8 walkers and 2 dogs. The weather stayed fine and we had some great views down through the pine trees to the baragems below. Back to the cafe for drinks after and 7 of us stayed for lunch.
