WALK - MONDAY 19 MAY 2025 - PORCHES TO ALBANDEIRA

[Linda and Russell]

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk which Willie was going to lead in January but had to cancel due to bad weather.
This is a picturesque walk of great variety, starting off through a hamlet, then crossing sand dunes, then through a valley to the cliffs between Marinha and Albandeira beaches then back through the valley. A camera is a must if you have not seen the cliffs! We have graded it a 3 medium as there is the occasional short sharp climb and we walk on uneven surfaces. It is just over 8 kms and takes around 2 hours.

Start time is 9.45 am and the start point is the Cafe/Restaurant Casa de Pasto Paragem. The cafe should be open for coffee before the start.
Directions from Carvoeiro take the N125 heading east towards Faro. Go past the International School and the new roundabout for Benagil and pass the two BP garages. Just after this take the first right off the ‘Porches’ roundabout heading uphill for Porches & Armacao de Pera. There is another roundabout where you keep right for Armacao de Pera. Keep on this main road and after about 1/2 mile you will come to open ground on the right side then the Casa de Pasto Paragem. There is a lot of open ground for parking opposite.

Usual rules apply, wear good footwear, brink a drink and a pole if you use one and walk at your own risk.

We can stay for lunch at the cafe after and they do a typical prata da dia for 13 euros. Please advise below if you will be joining the walk and if you will be staying for lunch. Contact on the day is 0044 796 0552618.

A lovely walk with some fantastic scenery and we didnt get lost, thankfully. There were 12 walkers and 3 dogs and the walk took just over 2 hours. Six of us stayed for a very enjoyable lunch at the cafe after.
