Good value car hire for August

Post by fatscholes »

Booked the flights....booked the parking....now for the car hire.
With 3 under 4s we went with SIXT last year only to find they moved to their off airport spot some 5kms from the airport. Looking not to pay through the nose this year but mindful of off airport rentals being cheaper we keep being routed to Advantage Car Hire. Does anyone know where their off airport situation is please. I can't find it anywhere on the web!!!
Any opinions welcome

Have you looked at www.Algarvedriver.com by clicking on logo at the top of this page. I don't know how they are with small kids but they are on the P4 carpark and you will be supporting this site.

Simply google "Economy Car Hire" and enter your details and car size required and get a decent quote. I have booked with them for July / August 2013 and paid £176.00 for 10 days including the additional cover for tyres, wheels, keys, underneath car etc.....
Their web site is the easiest to follow. You then get a voucher detailing the actual car hire company used (Ecomomy are the broker), this is usually Travel Rent or Drive 4 Fun. Both based a 10 minute walk from arrivals in Car Park 4. Travel Rent are usually a lot quicker than Drive 4 Fun when collecting the car!!
Pay in sterling when booking for a trouble free collection on the day.
I have used Ecomony Car Hire for my last six visits to CVO and everytime they have been excellent.

in my experience, the exact opposite! Travel Rent horrendously slow whilst Drive 4 Fun very quick and efficient

The topic says good value car hire and to be fair to Lamby that price is excellent.
I assume the price Lamby booked is for a Group C Car (Corsa) and includes insurance to cover the excess.
For peak period this works out at €20 per day.
Why not ask Algarve Driver to match ?
As laserblazer said you will also support this site which we all benefit from.

Strange how opinions vary. I arrived 27.12.12, for the first time my car hire supplier was Drive 4 Fun having had Travel Rent for all my previous deals. My wife clocked the time I spent waiting to see the tall, very pleasant English chap at the D4F desk, it was just short of an hour. Meanwhile, people who joined the other car hire company queues had all gone !! Including Travel Rent who must have seen several people in the time I queued. A lovely lady in front of me said D4F weren't usually this slow as the chap normally has a young woman working with him. Didn't help my growing frustration - still my beautiful wife soaked up the lovely midday sun as I waited.
Strangely, my car provider in the summer via Economy is Luzcar. Apparently they have a meeting point next to the coffee shop in the arrivals hall - so another new experience. Altogether, I do like Economy Car Hire!!
