Maxims

Post by Bruce Wallis »

We rarely go to Carvoeiro restaurants, but Hampshire Rich and EMG took us to Maxims the other night.
A little more expensive than other places on Restaurant Hill, but the menu, and quality of the food were first class. A really enjoyable evening.....great company and excellent food. The rack of lamb was even better than Elle&Ella!

The two best restaurants right opposite each other, see my post on Jota Lita viewtopic.php?f=22&t=23236
Different styles both offering really good food and excellent service.

Maxims is wonderful. But please don't put A Gale in the same league for food quality or service!

It seems that pato, EMM, e-richard & R.Wethereyet disagree with your assessment Bruce & they've kicked up a bit of dust on the General Carvoeiro forum.

As I know you to be a gastronome of impeccable taste I shall accept your recommendation & try it myself!

I can only speak for myself, and re-iterate that the food was indeed very good. I was merely reporting that we and others have had a less than perfect experience of the service, and that took the edge off the enjoyment of the food.

Mind you, with the company that BW was priviledged to have, I'm sure that he'd have had a fantastic evening regardless :D

I certainly will be revisiting this restaurant !

Thanks Richard - it was an effort, but EMG, myself, Luke and all the ladies did our best and had a great evening even if Bruce was with us! :P

Drew the line at karaoke at the Roundup though - although we did hear the screaming of horror when Bruce and Ed tried to get hold of the mike! - and we were back at Monte CVO by then :P :P :P

Visited Maxime last Tuesday on the last niht of our holiday. As always the food was excellent, goood value and the service efficient and friendly. The rack of lamb was very good and a very generous portion. This restuarant never fails to delight and is one of the much anticipated highlights of our annual visit to CVO

The dissenting views in the earlier debate centred around the way some clients were ignored while friends of the owner were given attentive treatment. The quality of the food was not the basis of the complaint. Some very valid points were made but a small element of critical personal comment allowed the moderators to hive the subject off to the Chit Chat section which is not seen by non registered viewers. Very conveniently for some vested interests the matter thus disappeared from view. The correct course of action would have been to remove any comments deemed as offending and leave the subject in the restaurant section.
