just had a letter from monarch saying that delay is valid for travel insurance claim...Lloyds gave me 4 weeks ago free travel insurance on bank account, which means I can claim.

My school friend is still stranded at faro airport, i didnt realise she was still there, i thought the was home. Shes saying on facebook that ryanair have dumped them. I dont really understand why they arent allowed to fly but she says theres no ryanair staff and callcentres have closed, they wont give them any food tokens or a place to stay and the other companies have hiked their prices right up. Anybody else know of anyone in the same situation? :?

are you sure, Stacey - sounds very unlikely as I came through the airport yesterday afternoon with only a short delay. Ryan Air were one of those who managed to get pretty much all their flights out yesterday so I cannot understand why it would be a problem today. There is no hiking of prices - the prices were ALWAYS that high!!! The restaurant area is closed as it is in the damaged section of the airport - it is just the little shop at the front.

Check out the Ryan Air website to see which flights have been delayed - I would remain unconvinced until I saw that ... Maybe she wants some time off work?

The following link shows Ryanair's Faro performance for today:
http://www.flightstats.com/go/FlightSta ... 0&x=18&y=6

Just looks like normal Ryanair performance.

As regards food tokens or other support it is the local handling agent that you normally need to contact as the airlines don't have their own staff there normally.

I just wrote a message but it deleted - grrrr!! i know shes definitely not back home because my cousin is her best friend. I just checked the ryanair website but couldnt find anything, its quite strange! she said she was meant to be flying to manchester instead of glasgow. I'll need to see if i can find out more!

Just back from Faro airport (well a few wines have passed really) after picking up my good lady. Things seemed a bit hectic, new arrivals are bussed from the tarmac to an area in front of the arrivals hall area but if, as today, you have several flights arriving within a short time slot, then problems. Didn't help that a transfer bus arrived at the barrier which appeared not to have approved to acces the new temporary arrangements. We passed couple of buses with some rather hot and weary passengers pressed against the bus windows.
