Re: Church
Hi Sally, Unfortunatley unless the local parish priest has had a charisma bypass and changed the rules he does not allow weddings or funerals at the church anymore, we tryed everything including asking the Bishop of Faro and the president of the junta to talk to him but he wouldnt have it, when my father passed away, but you never know.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.

Good luck to you both, our parish priest in the UK married his cousin there a few years back and he said it was the most moving ceremony he had conducted.

I can understand weddings but it seems a bit odd to not do funerals at the church.ANDY wrote:Hi Sally, Unfortunatley unless the local parish priest has had a charisma bypass and changed the rules he does not allow weddings or funerals at the church anymore, we tryed everything including asking the Bishop of Faro and the president of the junta to talk to him but he wouldnt have it, when my father passed away, but you never know.

Re: Church
Sally, hope all goes well for you and hubby-to-be next year, and you both have you a wonderful special day under the sun. There are often wedding receptions held in Carvoeiro and what better place to be to start a new life together.
Re: Church
Our daughter was/is hoping to get married in CVO church this May. Last May our wedding planner said that Fr Nunes would allow weddings in the church if we brought our own Priest. We arranged for our own Priest to accompany us, but then we were informed that the church was going to be reordered and that there was not a "pot" of money for this, it would have to be done as and when the money was available, and there was no chance of it being ready for May 2012. So we arranged the wedding to take place in Alvor. Now we find out that the Church is completed apart from the outside being painted. This does not bother us.
We have spent the majority of our holidays for the past 32 years in Carvoeiro and have always gone to the 10.30 mass.
Sorry for such a long introduction. Now by reading this forum we find the church is finished . We have of course immediatly got in touch with our wedding planner but she is not in Portugal at the moment, so I have then contacted our Solicitor who is arranging the legal side of the marriage, and he is having difficulty getting in touch with Fr. Nunes. My Question is can anybody help us get in touch with Fr. Nunes. We have his telephone No.and his address, but he just does not seen to answer his phone.
Our daughter would really love her wedding to take place in Carvoeiro.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Re: Church
Hi lythamite. Just to let you know after I posted on here back in Oct I tried to book the church via my wedding planner, but it was not possible. It seems that the renovations have stopped for now, but are not complete so the priest won't book any weddings. I too have chosen an alternative church but if you hear any news about the carvoeiro church please let me know as I too have been going there for many years and would have so loved to be married there! Are you doing the civil part in the Uk?
Re: Church
Hi Sally,
If the Church is not yet completed we will have to keep to our plans of our daughter getting married in Alvor.
No we are not having a civil service first. It is possible to have both performed in the one service as in the Catholic church in the U.K.
If you want further information about this let me have your email address and I will give you details and also a solicitor who will do everything needed including translating your documents.
