We were always busy making kitchens/garden furniture/sunbeds etc..the only place we got to for a rest was up at Rocha Brava, where we ate our lunch

The coast between Tavira and the Spanish border is actually very beautiful and less commercialized than other parts of the Algarve. Certainly worth exploring.

Indeed. In fact there are a couple in my "East to West" section: CLICK HERE. Each are mentioned in the text and can be found on the map (click on it when you have clicked on Click Here).James Faro wrote:The coast between Tavira and the Spanish border is actually very beautiful and less commercialized than other parts of the Algarve. WE had a couple of weeks at Monte Rota, which is between Tavira and the border. The beach is huge but gets packed with locals at the weekends and bank holidays.

That beach looks just like Sea Palling in Norfolk..........HampshireRich wrote:This one is very similar to the one above - if anyone cares to guess which beach it isjoeysoap wrote:http://www.taviraguide.com/beaches/praia-do-barril/

Not for me....I just love the cliffs and the dramatic and beautiful coves in our part of the Algarve.
Re: Cabanas de Tavira
I looked at Tavira when I purchased my place in Cvo - spent 3 days there looking around and decided that it was not the place for me. I wouldn't bother going overnight there unless I was visiting friends - but definitely would visit the waterfall (as I said earlier) - and it is not that far.
However, visiting Lisbon is definitely worth an overnight stay - lots to see and do and a bit more "culture" which is fun for a few days.

Re: Cabanas de Tavira
Lisbon certainly is well worth a visit, as is Porto. We have spent several long weekends there and last year flew up to Porto from Faro, returning to Faro the following day. Ryanair fly daily from their base at Faro and you can pick up some real bargains. We did it for 9 euros each, each way!
