Are there any updated directions from FAO to CVO since 2005

There is a wonderfully detailed set of driving directions on the info site written by the great Michael Crane in 2005 but I wondered if anyone had a more up to date version. I am useless at describing how to get here from the airport and wondered if anyone had a good version that works.

I always warn people about the slip roads - be vigilant. If entering the main road the visibility may be poor, and entering/exiting slip roads are short and often merge - so easy to miss turnings off, or collide with other cars if you are not careful.
I can understand short slip roads on smaller roads, but the A22 & EN125 are motorway/A road. If they had built longer slip roads they would have room for toll stations. The merging of slip roads with traffic trying to exit and enter on the same short strip is a nightmare at busy times. I don't think the phrases 'give way' or 'merge with the traffic' are in the portuguese vocabulary.

After leaving the airport you travel to the N125 and go up a ramp then asfter about 25 yds there's a right turn signposted to Portimao, you almost turn back on yourself down a ramp, at the bottom remember to give way and look to your LEFT!, I've slipped up a few times there and it's a dangerous place to join the traffic.

Actually, the dates in FAQ are the dates the original information was created. Since then, many, if not all, the topics have been updated by replacing the original text.

When I remember to do so, I do post 'updates'.

I find the slip roads in portugal very short too. and (for once ) agree with Pato about joining the IC4 , very short run onto a busy road. I have also missed the road onto the A22 by staying on the 'inside lane' few kilometres after joining the IC4 (near the stadium) but just turned after about 500 metres and rejoined the road. (if they bring in the tolls might just stay on this road on the journey to cvo as I believe its the EN125)

That's why they are called slips! I agree, that first slip is the worst part of the journey because you have to turn your head so far back to see if it's clear.

I always find that the worst place, in addition to the sharp angle of the junction you have only just picked up the hire car and not got used to its blind spots. Glad to know I'm not the only one to have nearly had an accident there.

Thanks Michael and everyone. I am sorry Michael, but i thought that the 2005 version maybe had changed as I dont pay much attention to the signs these days. Yes, the slip roads are a nightmare and however much you warn people they always mention them. My son lives in London and only drives once a year when he is here and I still warn him every time and am relieved when he arrives unscathed! Thanks again.
