I visited last year twice, first visit, the meal was excellent, service was great, enjoyed it so much decided to go back a week later. Unfortunately this time the food was very salty, and not half as good. There were 6 of us, we all ordered different food, and it was all salty, having read recent comments, if t still open, I won't be bothering again!

The plot thickens - I drove past the 'supposed' new Primavera near to Monte Santo' main entrance but there is no sign of any life - any news :o

All the activity seems to be in rebuilding the top floor as it had been open to the elements for years.

There is certianly no eveidence yet that it will be a bar/cafe etc.

It's to be a chicken piri-piri place as well as a café I believe, but from what I've heard, they're still being kept waiting by the Câmara.

When putting the bottles and plastic into the bins this afternnon I noticed a couple of cars drive past turn round and eventually stop nearby.
One of the drivers got out and asked in German I knew where the NEW chicken restaurant was. Betwen my schoolboy german and his Freemap of Carvoeiro it turned out that it is the old BOAVISTA Bar.
The add says open for summer 2010.. Still no signs of this which is a real pity for not just we locals but everyone else in the area looking for this type of place to eat.

I heard from a reliable source that there is a major issue with the Camara - revolving around the 'change-of-use' regulations. Apparently, they were given permission earlier in the year but a change of interpretation brought everything to a grinding halt. The argument is about the type of place it was previously and what it is going to be in the future. The only beneficiaries now will be lawyers.

The 'old' Primavera is due to reopen in September.

I just drove past the Boa Vista Bar and there is an Aviso posted on the front advising that an application was submitted in June for an alteration to the change of use from a bar to a restaurant.

Let's wait and see what that brings

The existing Primavera at the top of Estrado do Farol will be reopening within 3 weeks under its new management. Paulo is back as the Maitre D' and together with the entire Villa Medici crew will make it the place to eat in Carvoeiro. - for us anyway.

Not too sure what's happening at the Boa Vista site - the building work goes in 'fits and starts' and at the moment there is no activity. I would have thought the longer they leave it the more difficult it will be to re-establish themselves. I suspect they will not be in too much of a rush to get it finished right now - next Summer is probably their target by which time they will have been out of circulation for 2 years :)

Are you sure - the building doesn't look anywhere near finished from the birdseye view. And believe me, living opposite I feel like I have seen (and heard) every inch of it being refurbished ...

Is that the place on the corner of the road to Algar Seco. If so, 3 weeks looks a bit optimistic.

If it's the place I'm thinking, then there have been 3 or 4 guys working 8-6 over the last wek.

It was supposed to be September 1st 2010 - but he (Domingos) was adamant last night that 3 weeks was doable :)
