Naw!! - Chiles is far better looking than our Brucie boy - younger, more sophisticted, witty etc. Get to close to Bruce and you see the age lines, the worry, the drawn look ..... poor Julia!
Re: Tia Ilda
Had a great meal last Sat overlooking the sea, there were 6 of us and it was 100 Euros, we had the Bread, dips etc and all had Pizza, 3 bottles of Wine (NOT HOUSE WINE) and 2 bottles of Water, my friend who should have joined us was unwell, they made her a Pizza to take away and did not even charge us for it, the owner waved at us (his English is not that good, but better than my Port), and his wife was lovely, so again no complaints, we do go in every 6 to 7 weeks so maybe we are classed as regulars?

Re: Tia Ilda
There is no doubt that we regulars do get better treatment in our favourite places.
We have had 10% off the bill, tables found when " none available ", free after dinner port when not generally offered, samples of wine etc.
As all year round visitors restaraunts rely on our custom in the quiet times . None of this I add relates to Tia Ilda, we are not regulars there.

my family have been going to carvoeiro for 20 years now (all my life) and its my dads favourite restaurant for the amazing view. the chicken piri piri is the best i have found in carvoeiro. i know the waiter you are referring to and i dont think he means to be rude i think he has been misunderstood. However we are regulars and are always made to feel welcome. the son of the owner who is a waiter there is a laugh as well. when i am over in july it is my birthday and this is where i shall be going for my birthday meal. cant wait! x

Re: Tia Ilda
Friends of ours were there a couple of weeks ago. They went back for a second visit during their 12 night stay. We are going to try it this Friday night with a couple of friends so I will be able to give a proper review after that. But overlooking the Bay!! In the moonlight!! A bit of craic with friends what more could you ask for? We will just have to practise our Portuguese a little better.
Re: Tia Ilda
This used to be our favourite restaurant in CVO and have been monthly regulars for 3 years. Last week changed our opinion and we won't eat there again. Tne owner and a couple of the staff were just downright rude and when we asked to speak to the owner in person, his son was sent to talk to us. Horrible people but a great view and ok seafood.
Re: Tia Ilda
I have eaten there once about 2 years ago, we had a table outside, not by choice as it was very chilly but all the inside tables were full. We waited over an hour for our starter and when I asked the waiter if he could bring us some bread as I was starving, he told me I was too fat anyway and it would do me good to wait!
Needless to say I haven't been back ........ !

4 of us ate at Tia Ilda last night and loved it. Fantastic mixed starter, golden bream for 2 and red snapper for 2 - superb. Meal was rounded off nicely with complimentary limoncello. Staff were very friendly and one of the waiters was doing requests in the guitar. A great night out and will definitely be back.
Re: Tia Ilda
The owner doesnt speak english and silvio (the son) is the one who does all the greeting and deals with complaints. its a shame to see people having bad experiences because we been going there for 20 years and love it there. i do agree it makes a change if you are a regular and they treat you different maybe.tjthedj wrote:This used to be our favourite restaurant in CVO and have been monthly regulars for 3 years. Re: Tia Ilda
I've had mainly good meals in this restaurant and the comments in this topic just go to prove that everyone has different tastes and have different experiences. However, its more common for poor reviews to be posted than good ones.
I would however be slightly cautious about going "overboard" with negative or detrimental comments - a one-off bad experience may warrant a negative posting but remember it may just be a one-off. The restaurants on Carvoeiro have a hard job on their hands and whilst admittedly need to know if its bad could actually do with some good publicity.
If you have had a bad experience, maybe try once more just to see?
