World Cup 2010

Post by fatscholes »

Come on Portugal.
Although England is the first team, Anyone who can put a frown on Drogba's face is a friend of mine!!

All together now

Heróis do mar, nobre povo,
Nação valente, imortal,
Levantai hoje de novo
O esplendor de Portugal!
Entre as brumas da memória,
Ó Pátria, sente-se a voz
Dos teus egrégios avós,
Que há-de guiar-te à vitória!

Às armas, às armas!
Sobre a terra, sobre o mar,
Às armas, às armas!
Pela Pátria lutar!
Contra os canhões, marchar, marchar

Is it me or is this by far the worst World Cup ever? Every game has been played at snail's pace, every team (apart from Germany) seems more scared of losing rather than trying to win and all the big so called superstars have been anonimous. And if that's not bad enough, what about that awful, sickening noise that drowns out every match. And why stage the competition in one of the most dangerous, depressing countries on earth with no football history whatsoever?

Just like in club football there is so much pressure now that the managers and teams are more frightened of losing than anything else especially the first game. Hopefully as the competition develops teams will have to attack more and we will see more goals and better games :P

I think those comments have been said in the first week of EVERY world cup for the last gazillion years.

i agree with the standard of football....looking forward to yesterdays game but we saw oen effort from Ronaldo that rose people off their seats and thats it!
I do however wonder why people are getting so hot under the collar regarding the horns.....this is part of South African football culture. Why are people in the UK thinking that it spoils their tv viewing pleasure? if there was mindless chanting about the referee that was being clearly heard, people would be moaning about that.

You're right - and I'm afraid that football turns "American" - defense wins the game...

Coming out a week today and i am afraid that Engalund will probaly be out of the world cup, huffed and puffed they have and scraped 2 draws not the standard of potentional winners. I think the standard of this world cup is actually quite high thats why there has not been many goals per game. The technical ability, passing, control and fitness of the teams taking part are of a very high standard, even just now watching New Zealand against the holders they are holding there on. I just wish our national team could start acheiving the same standards. Roll on next Sunday. :D

The majority of European teams dont seem to be playing as good as normal. (Holland excepted) :D
I will be supporting England and hope they manage to qualify for the next round.
