These bargains do exist with Ryanair. My 6 euro return from Faro to EMA pales into insignificance with this :)

I believe RYR are going to end the Visa Electron 'promotion' on 31 December 2009.

Thanks for the heads up....managed to get 2 retrun flights for £8, but annoyingly don't have an electron card so the booking fee cost £20 but still a bargain at £28 all in!

Reason they pick Electron is so legally they can advertise these fares without card fees. They know very few banks still issue these cards (generally current accounts for young kids/students) so the majority would be paying the card fees.
Funny thing is this caused an upsurge in account applications at banks still issuing Electon from frequent Ryanair flyers.

Think Ryanair then spotted a money making opportunity. There is a new type Mastercard prepaid cash card (Ice Card) designed for travellers where you load money on to. Therefore from end of year they are fazing out electron as fee free and only Ice pre-paid cards will be so (presumably since Ryanair get commission for new applicant).

Although not the biggest fan of Ryanair (e.g. last time cost more for golf clubs than me!), probably worth applying for one even just to take advantage of offers and book flights.

last year easyjet launched their credit card which earned you a discount on future flights, guess what it finishes in January.
These are obviously just short term promotions to buy your loyalty for a period.
A NEW card is being issued but with another bank.
