Visiting Carvoiero with kids

Post by dramaqueen »

We are staying at Colina Da Lapa in May (23rd onwards) for two weeks. We have two kids who love to go to the beach (2 + 5). Could you advise best beaches. We do have car hire for the full two weeks.
Could anyone also advise on best places to visit that the kids and us adults would enjoy.
Thanks

Hi Dramaqueen

If you do a search on my previous posts you will find most of them are related to the things we do with our two and four year olds - you will have a great time here, and the communal pool at Colina da Lapa is very good (as is the kids club)

Im unsure of the name of the company, but go into one of the tourist info places in carvoeiro centre and book a safari. The ones we did went right up through the Monchique mountains. The kids will love the driving, they also stop of for dinner and at the place where they make the local firewater and you get a sample. It was a great day and wasnt that expensive- I would strongly recommend it.

Im unsure whether the company we went with is still in business, the forest fires last year in Monchique must have damaged their business, but still ask at the tourist info places!

You will be very near Caneiros beach which is lovely and one of my favourites, I have already posted about it.
There is also Playoasis at Ferragudo which is very popular with families with young children.
Hope you have a good holiday

The tourist info is very close to the Palacio do Cone ice cream shop where the web cam is. Stand in the parking area look at the Palacio do Cone and it is to your left. (there is a road going up the hill between the tourist info and the Palacio do Cone).

Great beaches are covered on this web site (see the home page).

If you look back through previous threads there are many references to places like ZooMarine, Crazy World, various water parks etc.

Have a great time - I'm sure you will

Without a doubt Canerios is not only the best but the nearest (car about 4 mins and free parking) but check the others as well even if it takes about 15 mins ie Albandeira. Also try the Ferragudo beach Player Grande which is just beyond Canerios. Steen, it would be nice if you could feature the beaches west of Carvoeiro in a little more detail as they are very popular now and rightly so.

Hi Mike,

Please let me know what beaches I am missing, beyond "Canerios", and I'll have a go at it.

Thanks in advance,

Steen

Steen,
If you are going to "update" the beaches, than I think Praia do Pintadinho is a nice one. (It is the next beach from Canerios in the direction of Ferragudo.

Canerios Beach

Post by Gazza »

Hi Mike - Can you let me know where Canerios beachis ? I have not heard of this one and it sounds as if we should pay it a visit when we are over at Whitsun. We tend to use Marinha especially in the offpeak months.

Many thanks

Hi Gazza, will send a private message on this. I'm in enough trouble at the moment! Something I will address later. Mike
