Cape St Vincent

Post by Purple »

Hi

I remember when I was younger, my parents took me to Cape St Vincent. At the time I don't think my brother and I really appreciated it! Can anyone tell me if it is worth a visit and any other ideas on places to visit would be great. We are hiring car so we can travel around a bit.

Many thanks

We went a couple of years ago, it was a great day out. The lighthouse is very impressive and the surrounding area is a bird-watcher's paradise. Lots of lovely beaches within a few minutes drive, we had a picnic on one, sorry can't remember the name.

If you are going in high season go early to avoid the crowds and coach parties.

The fortress headland is ceratinly more interesting than the lighthouse,
Have lunch in Sagres , small harbour, crystal clear water full of fish. quiet beaches.
Stop at Lagos on the way back if time and stamina permits.

We took one of the coach tours which included this place, Sagres, Lagos and a few other places. A long day out but well worth it for a taster. Do vso out of season when prices are cheaper and not so darn hot and stuffy in a coach.

The last time we were at the lighthouse it was closed. That was probably 2 or 3 years ago. Not sure why it was shut as there seemed to be plenty of people there.

we went over in april&the cliff views are breathtaking!also very interesting was the diference in tempreture from one coastline to the other, when you are right at the point it is only a couple of hundred yardsfrom one coastline to the other&you will feel a difference although only a few degrees but it is noticeable
