Unless the £ were to gain or lose significantly in the next few weeks the difference in rates would be insignificant

ie if the pound gained 4 cents/£ ( unlikely ) £1000 = 4000cents = 40 euros.

Using a credit / debitcard will involve charges unless you have one of the Nationwide products but is more secure than carrying large amounts of cash.

I see the £ is falling against the € again. 1.139 when I last looked.

Don,t keep looking its fallen further today because of unexpected increase in economic activity in Germany.
