Some Advice for Family Stay

Post by Rodbouy »

Hi I am looking for some advice for a possible holiday here. We are going to be booking Villa Curva do Monte, Carvoeiro, Has anyone stayed here at all before? We will be travelling as 3 families. Me, my partner and our 2 young children (3)+(1) at time of proposed visit. My family 2+ 3 teenagers and my partners family 2+ 2 teenagers.

We are proposing to be visiting in the month of august 2010. How would Carvoeiro be suited for a family holiday? eating out now and then and places for adult/teenagers to go at night?

Me and my partner stayed in olhos de agua sept 2008 for ten days and found it bit to quiet for us and it rained for 4 out the 10 days ahaha it was the end of sept tho.

Any information would be much appreciated.

I have been to Carvoeiro on several occasions; as a child, as a teenager, as an adult and as mum a and absolutely love it. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and there's a lovely friendly atmosphere. As for stuff for teenagers, it's not exactly Magaluf, but there are a couple of bars they may consider 'cool' enough to visit, such as the Roundup. I believe the new road layout in the centre makes it a little safer for young families as the problem with many of the restaurants and bars is that they are right on the busy road so you wouldn't want toddlers to wander around. The bars and restaurants at Monte Carvoeiro are ideal for young families as they are set around a fountain which children seem quite happy to chase each other around whilst parents relax (beware though - I've seen more than one child fall in the fountain!).

Sounds like a busy holiday in store! We first discovered CVO when our youngest was 7 months. They are now 2 & 4 and we had our 6th holiday there in May, we have always had very happy holidays & feel its a great place with small children. The beauty with little ones is the resort centre itself is fairly compact, but lots to see/do in surounding areas if you choose to. Most restaurants v child friendly, some have little play areas, child menu etc. There`s a small playground up near the church, the train, beaches etc. Can't comment on how teenagers would find the resort but think a day at the waterpark (10 mins away) would probably appeal to all age children, some scarier slides & a designated area especially for toddlers. There are also previous threads covering activities for children/teenagers if you search the forum a bit.
