Bit of a shopping list!!!
Bit of a shopping list!!!
Thanks ever so much for your suggestions on where to get Basil recently, really helpful and much appreciated.
I do have a few more things that I was hoping to pick up while there, I'm sure some of them are pretty standard. Also have a few queries to aid me on my excursins to the local supermarket. I'll just start and ask the questions ...............
What is the POrtugese for Fillet Steak ( don't want t end up buying veal or something else in error)
Which milk is the low fat and slimline ( Green, blue, light blue?)
Do the supernmarkets sell the following
Calypo Ice pops 9 multipack ) one of my kids eats these t beat the band on hols
Aptimol 2 ( ready to use )
Pine Nuts
Sweet chilli sauce/ wholegrain mustard ( ingredients for a great BBQ marinade
Also loooking for a few good recommendations for a few nice wines ( we normally drink Sauv Blanc or Pinot Grigio) Trouble is I never know the difference between the local wines and have found some lovely ones last year but can't rem the names - really sorry about the list but any response would be great.

Re: Bit of a shopping list!!!
I can answer a few for you. The fillet steak is 'bife do lombo'. The half fat milk is 'meio gordo' & comes in either a green or blue carton depending on the brand. Fat free is 'magro' & is always in a light blue carton. Don't know about Calypo's but you can buy tip tops in Intermarche to freeze. Also there you can get your pine nuts, (by the veg section), wholegrain mustard & sweet chilli. A lovely white wine is Prova Regia. Sorry I don't know what Aptimol 2 is. Hope this helps.
Re: Bit of a shopping list!!!
I like Planalto and BSE also a couple of others but only recognize them by the label.
Re: Bit of a shopping list!!!
The skimmed milk is usually in the pale blue carton.
Magro leite - skinny milk

Intermarche will stock Pine Nuts (found in the fruit and veg section), sweet chilli sauce and wholegrain mustard, but you will pay the price for them as they are considered luxury goods. Pingo Doce also stock Pine Nuts and will be cheaper. I believe they also stock the mustard - I will check next time we go in for you.
With regards to wine, we have just found a fab white wine which we now use as our house wine called JP Azeitao.
Hope this is of some help.

thanks a million folks - really great help, will try those wines, alway help to have a few recommendations - thanks again
Re: Bit of a shopping list!!!
Best value for many items, nuts etc is Pinge Doce,( Lagoa ) v good own brands, soy sauce, worc sauce ( molho englise ), wines can get busy and ther charge for plastic bags ( good ) so take your own.
Also has bread counter and butchers.

And when it was Plus it used to have an excellent fruit & veg' section.
Re: Bit of a shopping list!!!
I agree with Canada, my wife drinks Chardonnay & Pinot grigio, the Planalto seems to fit the bill for her, also Esperao (hope thats the right spelling!) is nice
