It seems the camara does have some sympathy for this issue so that at least is a good sign.

Ahem...Ahem...here is the news.

We've won!

The president of the Camara has told our lawyer - so it's official - the SIRESP tower will NOT be built in ADM. The preferred site now is on land by the lighthouse. Furthermore, the ugly box already in place and concrete base on which it stands are also being removed. Our lawyer is now drawing up a formal document for the Camara to sign/endorse.

There's nothing more I can say, except to offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support. We could not have done this alone. First came the support from residents/owners of ADM, both Portuguese and foreigners - even those back in their home countries. Then there was the support from non-residents of ADM, many of whom showed up for our rally last week. We really appreciated their help.

Thanks to Hal and to Maureen for their tireless effort, organisation and optimism that this could be overturned.I dread to think what would have happened if they'd not been around. Thanks to all that expressed their support, signed the petitions and lent a hand in either joining the demonstration last week or helping in other ways.
It turns out that the camara was on our side once they realised that this was not an appropriate site so thanks also to them for seeing sense and helping convince the neccessary authorities to change their minds.
People power works.
If nothing else, this has reminded me just how important my villa is to me and I will appreciate the quietness of my little oasis even more now that it has been "threatened". It has also reminded me how important it is to have great neighbours and that a situation like this can bring a community together.
Hope everyone has a lovely summer, we in ADM certainly will be able to relax and enjoy our homes now.
