Gmaps in posts
OK, I know I'm letting myself in for a load of flack here, but I just can't fathom out how to embed this MAP in a post. It is a Google 'My Map' creation showing several locations pertinent to a topic in FAQ, The Algarve - Places to visit, east to west, wherein it'd be handy to be able to refer to the map without having to leave the forum.
Any bright sparks out there know how to do it? All I have managed is the map but without the locations - and it's the locations that the map is designed to illustrate! Hence I have just inserted a link to the map.
This is the code:
but I am unable to discover (by trial and error) what part(s) are needed when using gmap= from the forum options.

Ah well.
Re: Gmaps in posts
No geeks about Michael, I cant even do the quote thingy
Re: Gmaps in posts
OK, I give up! The only thing that I can come up with, is that the My Maps is a Google app which has a different output that does not seem to combine with the gmap embed function.
Re: Gmaps in posts
I don't know if this will be at all helpful but I use Google Earth links on my blog, to show where restaurants are located. However, what it involves for me is creating the map file on Google Earth, editing it to my requirements, then hosting the map file on an external server and calling it via a hyperlink - http://simplesites.planetaclix.pt/Rouxinol.kmz This is fairly labour intensive but it allows me to tailor the description of the location.
Sorry if this doesn't help you with your problem.

To the top right of the map is a link called "LINK". Click on that and it gives you 2 options - one of which is the HTML code to embed in a web site. Have you tried using it?

Farol, I do do that. But the map doesn't show my locations.
I thinkl I'll leave it as it is. It does the job, and you can at least see where the towns are.
Thanks everyone for your help . . . even you, Jackie O
, btw, to quote someone, just click on the "QUOTE button in the top rh corner of the post.
