e-richard: Cool new features? You can add your birthday to your profile and get an e-greeting

laserblazer » The "WHO IS ON-LINE" is working fine for me, were you logged in? Any others with this problem

Michael Crane: Search function fixed, the search index needed rebuilding

Bruce Wallis: We just corresponded by PM, the message sits in the out-box until it is collected, then appears in the sent-folder. Using "Reply" is fine

Michael Crane: I haven't figured out the external links yet...

It is there Dodger. Go to Board Index, then just above solid blue banner for all topics, see three options, of which the middle one is to view new posts.

As I said, it'll take some getting used to.

Also see near top right of every screen, there is a link called FAQ.
This is not the CVO FAQ, but questions on how to use the forum software. You'll find the answer to most questions on "how to use" right there.

I do like the new look to the forum - has a cleaner look to it now.

Not had a chance to check out any new features yet.

Cheers Steen.

Re: Subject/topic sorting

Post by Michael Crane »

The new-look forum now allows for FAQ to be listed alphabetically for the first time. After the 'sticky topics' the remaining topics can be made alphabetical by scrolling to the bottom of the list and select 'Sort By - Subject' and then 'Ascending' . . . ..

However, when you return to FAQ after browsing another section the list has defaulted to date order. Is there any way in which an alphabetical sort can be set as the default order? It would make searching FAQ a whole lot easier.

Hi Michael,

Please see this for external links: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/links-o ... w-windows/
as for permanently sorting topics alphabetically it can not be done "out of the box" but requires a mod, I am a little reluctant to install any mods before we have tested the forum over a while.

You could of course post a reply to each topic in the opposite order - but it would be a nightmare if you were to add a new topic :D

Steen, re the two posts above.

Blimey, opening in a new page looks bloody complicated! I now see why you're going to leave it as it is. :?

I had already thought about your idea with the topics - but I just couldn't face the prospect of doing it each time I added a new one.

I have posted about the DIY option, and hopefully that will suffice. After all, it is a vast improvement on the previous version and not too difficult for members to do.

Keep up the great work.

Re: Forum FAQ blurb

Post by Michael Crane »

Steen, is it possible to redo this blurb:
FAQ - Your questions answered.
Frequently asked questions - please check before asking questions.

It is too easily confused with the Forum FAQ (which is very good indeed, btw). Can it be altered to:
FAQ - Your questions answered
Frequently asked questions about the topic and message content of all the forums - please check before asking questions.
