Forum will be closed down...

Post by Steen Jakobsen »

for most of the day tomorrow 4/3/2009 starting at 10 am due to both a software and server change.

I am sorry about the inconvenience but it will hopefully be for the better.

Is that 10am Portuguese time, or French time ?

Mind you, on reflection, when I think of "Portuguese time" these two are probably the same

Steen, it looks great and thanks. Well done, from experience there is nothing like swapping servers to get the adrenaline going!

Thanks Mike :-)

a new server, a new IP address and new forum software - it sure do get the adrenaline going! The forum is now running on its own dedicated server - hopefully the performance problems of the past will be just that.

Anyhow the thanks should be going to all those supporting the site financially by advertising, renting cars or booking transfers, without your support none of this would be possible!

It'll take a bit if getting used to, but I do like the new clean look.

Any cool new features ?

The "WHO IS ON-LINE" thing doesn't seem to be working but the site does look good. Well done Steen.

I would like to thank all those supporting the site financially by advertising, using the advertisers, renting cars or booking transfers, without your support none of this would be possible!

It hadn't occurred to me that by renting cars through you I was helping to support the site. Another good reason to go to Algarvedriver :)

Search not working

Post by Michael Crane »

It'll take a bit of getting used to!

Re Search: I tried it out with the word 'backgammon' and no posts were found, yet there are such posts within the forum! I then tried other words that I know are present, and again, none of them produced a result!

I use Search a lot with FAQ, so why isn't it working? :?

I just replyed to a PM but when I sent it, it never appeared in my OUTBOX, and appears lost. Do we still just tick on reply, or do we need to type in the addressees name?

I am sure we will get used to the new format, but to me it is nothing like as user friendly as the old format.

For example....when you have read a post, go back through home page, then back into a thread, the strapline is still highlighted in red, indicating unread post.

The increased reliability is welcome though.

Moderator colour coding

Post by Michael Crane »

I notice that my Moderator status isn't shown by the colour code like the earlier board. Is this correct?

When clicking on a member's web site it opens by replacing the forum web page.It is better to have it open in a new window.
