Just reading in the Portugal News that 700,000 euros is to be spent on improving the square in Carvoeiro. The main change is the removal of all the car parking "to create a social, tranquil and inviting area for residents and tourists close to one of the most beautiful beaches of the Algarve" - Mayor of Lagoa. There is also to be traffic restrictions on both in and out roads. There is to be a new larger car park "close to the Algar Seco road". Must admit we never attempt to park in the village, but park in Monte Carvoeiro and walk down, so for us it is a definite benefit. Hope we get a square that we can really be proud of.
supposedly the parking up at algar seco will have spaces for approx 75 cars, im told they are just going to reorganise the current parking up there to make more spaces
The article said parking for 80 cars, and I agree laser, it sounds like it will be at the top of the hill near the chapel. I doubt that it would have been announced by the Mayor if there was still a question of planning permission.
I have heard rumours that the work will start this summer, around June time. I do hope this isn't true as it will cause chaos during the busy time. Surely they will do the work in the winter when it is quiet! Then again this is Portugal!!!!
