I haven't been to a dentist here yet but I asked around as I really do need to make an appointment with one. Apparently there is a German dentist in Carvoeiro who is good and speaks English. I think I have seen him advertised on the freemaps that you can pick up around town. I have also been told of a very good English lady in Lagos who charges around 30 euros for a general check up. I don't know if this might be too far to go though. I expect they all charge around the same for a check up. In the resident directory there is a list of quite a few dentists in Lagoa.

Re: Dentist
I had to use the services of Dr Geigers colleague (she is extremely cute) while on vacation in Carvoeiro this Summer. It was on a Bank Holiday and I had a very bad toothache in a wisdom tooth. Made contact at 10:00am and was given an appointment for 3:00pm.No language problems at all. Consultation, x-ray and an extraction for less than €150!!!!!!.And on a Bank Holiday too!!!!
In Ireland ( my home) it would cost €300-€400 and it would be impossible to get any dentist on a Bank Holiday.
I might use this dentist for all my dental needs in future as the vacation was one of the best I have had in 30+ years of traveling and have already booked for next year. I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone.
PS. Would anyone know her name as I would like to send a note of thanks to her.

A friend had to see Dr Geigers and he was fine and not too dear. He is in the small business centre next to Mungos.
I have used a dentist in Albufeira called Cris Piessens for implant work. I can highly recommend him and , although not cheap , it cost about one third the price of the UK depending on exchange rate.

I use an English lady, Carolyn Ellison, in Lagos. I would recommend her to anyone. A few months back I broke a back tooth & she took an x-ray, repaired it, did a check up & cleaned them by blasting them with a salt water spray, they've never felt so clean & it only cost 100 euros. I've been to George McKee & although he's good he's not a patch on Carolyn. Last time I went to him I had a mouth infection, he had a look & recommended a mouth wash, I was in there for about 3 minutes & it cost me 70 euros!!
