It is probablly wrmer now than many pools, BUT be carefull there are no lifegaurds and we saw many adults and children being knocked over by the waves on the town beach earlier this week,

I nearly got knocked down when i tried to go in. waves are a bit wild although one day we went down and it was really wild, nobody would go in so we went home. I found it quite warm but that was over a month ago now

For children at this time of year, Pintadinho or Praia Grande are shallow without any big waves.

Carvoeiro, Centianes and Caneiros have waves, steep drop-off and undertow more often than not.

We have been at Pintadinho when the waves were a bit rough, but there was a serious undertow - couldn't let the kids in - so take care on any beach.

Saw no traders out, just some very happy people. :D

I do agree about being careful on any beach, only in the water up to our knees but can still get tipped over when that bigger wave comes along.

we went to alvor beach on friday. no one actually swimming in the sea, few like myself went in up to waist but no further, few surfing with those kites pulling them along, I only went in half-way as the waves were quite big and very strong. water was not cold. beach had a few people on it but as it's such a big beach you had 100 metres between you and the next person.it was windy but very very nice. restaurants were quite busy around 3pm, busier I expect than Cvo restaurants, prices appeared to be slightly cheaper than CVO.

We like going to the river side of Alvor and treating ourselves to a hot chocolate and watching the boats, fishermen and the PWDs splashing around.
