Book club

Post by Caroline »

Would anyone be interested if I set up a book club? Not the type where you all read the same book but more a meeting where we can share experiences of a good read, swop books and discuss different authors?I am planning to be in the Algarve from Nov-March in future and happy to get it started if some others can keep the momentum up over the Summer.I have belonged to one in the UK and Hong Kong in the past and it is a nice social occasion for the non golfers and non tennis players, usually held once a month in each others homes(depending on numbers but most people can host 8-10 and members dont tend to get to all meetings and I dont know what response I will get with this idea)Basically no outlay financially either(except the books which can be 2nd hand)If you reply to this post please give contact details, thanks Caroline

Caroline, I belong to a book club in Canada and it seems to be run along the same lines as you are suggesting. We are in the Algarve from January to April every year and also sometimes during Nov/Dec. as well. I miss the group while I am away, since we have great discussions not only about the book we have read, but all sorts of other topics too. I would really like to belong to one in Carvoeiro as well. I will send you a pm with my contact details.
