Snails
Went out last nite for a meal and had escargots for a starter because I loves them. Cannot recall anyplace in CVO that does them. Does anyone know different
Only problem with them is sex is normally not on the second course due to the vast amounts of garlic

Re: Snails
The solution is simple - order two starters, one for you and one for Gaynor.Gary/Gaynor wrote:....Only problem with them is sex is normally not on the second course due to the vast amounts of garlic![]()

.....darling if you remember we got some from the super market outside lagoa (used to be Modelo). They are in the freezer box in the apartment, dripping in garlic butter ewwwwwwwww!, not that you''ve looked in there, hand only goes in for beer.

There is a bar cafe on the IN road just past the butchers that serves plate fulls of snails to it mainly Portguese clientele.

If not Im sure Gaynor would help you out.........
(as for eating snails...the very thought turns my stomach.Give me a fillet steak any time along with a good claret. I believe my late father used to eat them but he came from Fench stock so I suppose it was par for the course..
Re: Snails
Gary,
MC's solution is a good one - one each !

Re: Snails
What about the Fatacil Cafe, I'll bet they do them there, by the way haven't heard a lot about that place for a while?
Re: Snails
I don't know of anywhere that actually has them on the menu, as you can't always get them. Most of the places serve them on an availability notice, so keep an eye open at local cafés for a sign announcing "Há Caracois!"

Re: Snails
Went to the Fatacil restaurant yesterday - food good as ever (typically local and no concession to 'international' cuisine).
We have seen some snails crawling up the walls (outside !!) but never on the menu.
Best place for caracois is in the little local tacas in the country.
