We will do Linda and Russell's Barragem walk to work up an appetite. There are lots of ups and downs , and it's a bit overgrown in places, but mainly all on good tracks, with lots of baragems. Walk is about 2h 30m .

Degree of Difficulty : It is a grade 3.5 due to the number of ups and downs.

Meeting Time: Meeting Point: Restaurant Ouriq, 10.00. However, it probably won't be open for coffee , so you might want to stop at Mia Ria if coming from Silves or the Ti Emilia in Porto de Lagos if coming from the N125. ( OK, it's not a port and it's not in Lagos, but....)

Directions: Drive to Lagoa and turn left on the N125. Drive to the the Portimao/Monchique exit and follow the N124 directions Monchique/Silves. At the roundabouts keep right and follow the signs for Silves. The restaurant is on the right side of the road on a sharp bend before Odelouca. Please park just before the restaurant.
Alternatively, drive to Silves, over the bridge , turn left and drive on N124 for 10km, when restaurant will be on your left.

Lunch . The restaurant does Prato de Dia for 12/13/14 € plus drinks, so expect gto pay about 17€ pp.....please bring some coins! Hopefully, it will be sunny enough to eat outside.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain ( v unlikely!).....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0800 on the day of the walk. Numbers are limited to 20, please sign up & indicate if you will want lunch.

Hi Geoff. Just found out that Monday December 1st is a public holiday. Trust this doesn’t affect opening hours of Restaurant Oriq?

Joanne at Oriq didn't say it was a problem at all, but will check, thanks....think it's mainly public sector workers who get the day off...banks might be shut...perhaps a reader may know?

Hope the hunters aren’t out or we can’t do the walk. Will have to listen for the guns.

Update.....Joanna at Oriq has confirmed that they will be open on Monday , but that they won't be open for a coffee before the walk....hence need to caffeine-up at at Mia Ria if coming from Silves or the Ti Emilia in Porto de Lagos if coming from the N125.

If there are hunters about, might be an idea not to wear your antlers on the walk!

We can decide in the morning whether to eat inside or out.

7 of us met at the Porto cafe for a nice coffee in the sun, met up with others at the Oriq and 17 set off. Great walk, 2h 30m...
We counted 5 barragems,,,,some thought it more, but that was just because we circled some and viewed from a different angle ( probably)...
Before returning to Oriq , nice cold beer and a good meal:
with most wearing their Christmas apparrel.

Thanks for a great season of walking, have a good Christmas & New Year and hope to see you all in the New Year....we will be back in January.
