Posted: Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:29 pm
Hi all
Putting details up early as we need to give menu choices early ....see below.
It's a just over 2.5 hours and it has a couple of steady inclines, but is otherwise predominantly flat(ish).
Difficulty ( on a scale of 1:5) : most is 2 (moderate) but a short part is 3(energetic)
Start : 10.00.....but please be there by 0945 if you want a coffee and order lunch.
Duration :about 2 hours 30 mins.
Optional lunch at O Gralha, 13 euro + extra wine , so about 15 euros.
They have agreed to amend the standard prato de dia for us, and the choice is either Estufado de Javali ( Javali casserole) or Baccalau com natas.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY Thursday 20 February, at the latest, your choice of menu.
As they are especially amending the menu, we need to go there for the lunch even if walk has to be cancelled due to weather.
Directions : drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.
Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right , drive through the village and O Gralha is on the left at the end of the village. Please park opposite.
Map ref : 37.253552,-8.3480627
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Please advise if you are intending to come, and whether you want lunch and your choice
I am limiting this walk to a max of 20 people.
Any questions , please email : geoffrey.j.hill@btopenworld.com
