I have been tasked once again with with organising our weekly walk and we will do another Carvoeiro Ramblers Classic which is local, very scenic and not to energetic - Porches to Albandeira (and back).

This is a superb walk of great variety, starting off through a hamlet, then crossing sand dunes, then through a valley to the cliffs between Marinha and Albandeira Beaches then back through the valley. A camera is a must if you have not seen the cliffs! It is no more than a 1 on our scale but there is the occasional short sharp climb. As a bit of variation we may even do it in reverse!

The start point is the Cafe/Restaurant known as Casa de Pasto Paragem. Coming from Carvoeiro take the N125 heading east towards Faro. Go past the International School and the new roundabout for Benagil and pass the two BP garages. Just after this take the first right off the ‘Porches’ roundabout heading uphill for Porches & Armacao de Pera. There is another roundabout where you keep right for Armacao de Pera. Keep on this main road and after about 1/2 mile you will come to open ground on the right side then the Casa de Pasto Paragem. There is a lot of open ground for parking opposite. This is the start point.

Geoff's usual caveats apply, (especially you walk at your own risk)
Start : 10am start.
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 1, easy (but there is the odd short climb)
Duration : 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on how long we admire the views.

We will try and organise a lunch at the start point, Casa Paragem (good basic Portuguese food).

If you wish to join us then please post a note on this forum. If you wish to stay for lunch then please say so.

Note: some rain is forecast for Monday afternoon but we should be ok, if this changes I will advise!

The weather forecast for Monday morning has changed and there is a high chance of rain, even thunder and lightning!

It is not looking good for the walk as we should not walk of there is a threat of lightning.

Because of this we have not booked the restaurant and if we do walk we will need to see if they can cope with us on the day. If not we can revert to old faithful in Carvoeiro - Vimar.

I will review the forecast late tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon and make a decision.
