Walk Monday 23 September 2024 : Ourique

Last week's walk had to be cancelled due to lack of support, hopefully a bit more this week.

It's just under 8kms and takes about 2 hours. There are lots of ups and downs but nothing on all fours and all on good tracks. We enjoy some good views up to Alferce.

Degree of Difficulty : It is a grade 3.5 due to the number of ups and downs.

Meeting Time: Meeting Point: Restaurant Ourique. We will start early, as it's hot, but not as hot as it was...please note revised start time of 0930. Not sure of cafe open for coffee.

Directions: Drive to Lagoa and turn left on the N125. Drive to the the Portimao/Monchique exit and follow the N124 directions Monchique/Silves. At the roundabouts keep right and follow the signs for Silves. The restaurant is on the right side of the road on a sharp bend before Odelouca. Please park just before the restaurant.
Alternatively, drive to Silves, over the bridge , turn left and drive on N124 for 10km, when restaurant will be on your left.

Lunch . The restaurant does a set meal but there are limited choices and if you want the a la carte, it will cost more. Hopefully, it will be sunny enough to eat outside. Expect to pay about 15€ pp.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain ( v unlikely!).....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0800 on the day of the walk. Numbers are limited to 20, please sign up & indicate if you will want lunch.

Just to say that the roadworks are still holding up traffic on the N125 bridge, perhaps better to take Silves and N 124 route.

Lovely day, 10 walkers, 1 dog.....but coffee machine not yet warmed up...Russell said he would show us a new walk ( Wendy pleased) though Linda said it was longer and could be overgrown....oh well, off we went:
