Walk 21 February 2022 : Western Funcho. CLOSED
Posted: Sat Feb 12, 2022 7:52 pm
Walk is now closed again.
I am repeating this lovely walk, as it's our last for this visit and will enable us to lunch at the O Gralha. Pse note for those staying for lunch, they will put liver & onions on the menu if I advise them a few days beforehand. Hence, if you want this, pse ensure you state this. There are usually 3 or 4 choices.
As a consequence of pre-ordering, those who opt for the liver & onions are, I think, obliged to come and have it irrespective of weather etc. Hence, please do not request it unless you are prepared to ensure you are walking/eating!
A lovely walk by the Western Barragem do Funcho. Most of it is flat(ish) but perhaps 20% is hilly.....nothing too severe, but it probably merits a "3" category for that part.
Start : 10.00...but please be there by 0945 if you want to order lunch
Duration :about 2 hours 30 mins.
Optional lunch at O Gralha....think it worked out at c11€pp last time......but, as above, please state if you want liver & onions & be prepared to attend irrespective of weather etc.
Degree of difficulty ( scale 1:5) : 3, energetic for 20%, 1, easy for 80%.
Directions : drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.
Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right and drive through the village : the O Gralha is at the far end of the village on the left.
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain ( though, as above, you may need to attend for lunch) .....I will endeavour to put any amendment note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Please advise if you are intending to come, and whether you want liver & onions. I am limiting this walk to a max of 20 people.
Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or before 0900.
