WALK - MONDAY 20 DECEMBER 2021 - FIGUEIRAS - CANCELLED

THIS WALK IS CANCELLED DUE TO EXPECTED HEAVY RAIN
Linda and Russell will be leading this walk. It is approximately 10/11 kms, about 2 1/2 hours. We head out along the levada, then across to the railway line at Mexilhoera Grande. We then take the scenic route around the bird sanctuary and the Alvor estuary, eventually returning to the levada and back to Figueiras. There are no hills to climb as it is a fairly flat walk and hopefully we will enjoy some lovely scenery. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing and bring a drink. There is no charge and you walk at your own risk.
The start time is 10:00 am and the meeting point is Cafe Ruby at Figueiras, also known as the Sports Bar. Parking is opposite the cafe or in the car park just after the cafe which says "sports bar parking". The cafe should be open for coffee and for those who wish to stay for lunch after the walk they do a very nice prata do dia.
Directions: Drive West along the N125 past the Alvor turning and the Penina Golf, after approximately 2kms you come to a small roundabout and a sign for Figueira. Turn right here and go up the hill, at the top the road bends left, follow the road straight along, pass a small crossroads and after about 500 metres the cafe is on the right.
