Russell has volunteered to lead a walk around the wetlands from Mexilhoera Grande. The walk is around 9kms 2 1/2 hours, easy and mostly flat. The usual Geoff rules apply: walk at your own risk, no charge etc. Meet at 10am at café Claviscal in Mexilhoera Grande. Directions: follow the N125 West, past Alvor turning and Figueras. After the sign for the railway station on the left, drive another 50 metres and turn right at the sign Farmacia and Mexilhoera Grande. The café is 60 metres ahead on the right. To park turn right at the escola sign just before the cafe and park 100 metres further along on the right, after the bus stop. The contact number on the day is 0044 7960552618. I am positive I registered for this walk last week sometime, but since I notice all the "replies" are gone, I thought I had better book in again ... so if I am missing something on the site, forgive me. Anyway Ray and Annie will be there bright and early next Monday.

So, how was it?

Linda reports.......Russell managed to complete the walk last Monday just before the heavens opened. There were only 6 people,

Russell, Mary, Sandra, Barry, David and wife as 4 people cancelled last minute. They all had an enjoyable walk

as they saw lots of birds of the feathered kind. No lunch was had due to the rapid escape from the looming black

clouds. Sorry, no photo to attach as Linda was not there to supervise. There was more use of binoculars than

photos.
