Geoff, yes, we are coming and will meet you at the turn off, sorry about replying to an old message. I am still getting the hang of all this, and not very well at that! We won't stay for lunch though.
See you tomorrow.

Well, a memorable walk for a variety of reasons....firstly, it was Janet's birthday ( age unknown ) but also Alan's 70th, so here we are toasting them with some local porto:

The usual suspects are all there, but we welcomed Graeme and Viv and tried to persuade them this wasn't our usual type of walk! We also welcomed back Jenny and Zac!

The water crossings weren't too much of a problem, though Jim and Paddy managed to get wet feet when the camera wasn't looking:

Having then climbed the hill, the heavens welcomed us with lightening, rolls of thunder....and some torrential rain! Fortunately, most of us had read your leaders introduction and came suitably equipped (apart from your leaders better half!) , and here is Zac admiring Russell's poncho:

and some of the leading group when the rain eased:

Unfortunately, it was too wet to capture the rain's intensity!

Anyway, it was relatively short lived, it not only stopped but some wan sun came out...here is Willie wondering what this is;

and the best guess i heard came from ? Viv.....a water supply for dogs!

Anyway, back to Amadeus Gardens ignoring our new found long-cut which bypassed the road, to have a most enjoyable meal:

followed by a porto/liqueur, courtesy of the Birthday Boy, and some sweeties from Ros....accompanied by an Ode to Alan, written by Sue : see below.

Willie had an appointment with a Bulgarian Lady and had to leave in a bit of a hurry....but for those that frequented the hostelries facilities, the seat tended to discourage loitering!

Some stats...2 h 35 m....about 11k.....13,800 steps....23 walkers, 1 dog, 18 lunchers.

Anyway, a great & memorable walk to add to the CVO list. Thanks to all who came.

Oh, and here is The Ode to Alan:

Ode to Alan
In 1946 there was a baby boy.
This special lad was called Alan Coy.
The 25th January was the day.
This pleased his proud parents in every way.

This was in Liverpool a long time ago
Famous for the singers we all know.
When Alan was little he liked to play
With trains which he loved, I have to say.

After marriage came the girls,
All with straight hair, none with curls.
Joanne came in 1968
It wasn’t too long before she had a mate,

In 1970 her sister was born,
Yes, believe it or not, her name was Dawn.
Then came Laura in 1971,
These three girls were lots of fun.

In 2001 whilst going for a walk
With others and having the usual talk.
Alan met a woman whose name was Trish.
Hmm thought Alan, here’s a dish!
Then before you could say one, two, three
The rest as they say is history.

In 2003 his French house did he buy.
This is some place, oh me oh my!
Alan continued with his interest in trains
Which he played with when not walking the lanes.

Now, here we have a creative Scouse.
He built a train track around his house.
So when the 4 grandchildren come to stay,
They with grandad and the trains do play.

In 2011 they escaped the French cold
To the Algarve which for them took a hold.
They’ve been coming here every year since
Where Alan’s glasses have rose coloured tints.

Alan likes to walk with a long, wooden stick
Which he left at a cafe but retrieved double quick,
This stick he holds to him very dear.
Geoff had to look after it for a year.

In 2015 after a walk and having lunch,
Drinking, chatting and having a munch,
Alan’s fortune was down as disaster struck,
The car was broken into, ..........oh what bad luck.

Gone were his man bag and all its stuff,
At this Alan said: “I’ve had enough”.
Off to the Police Station he and Trish went.
To get new passports proved quite an event.

So Alan’s still a boy with his sticks and trains
Going for walks in wind, sun and rains.
And now he’s in his seventy first year,
So let’s go ahead, and give him a cheer!
