Walk Monday 25 May 2026 ; Casinhas

We will be back for the next 3 walks.....PS...but see post below about Linda & Russell now leading.

Track is fairly undulating, nothing too steep, perhaps apart from an early climb, with minimal loose scree. Linda & Russell have shown us an easier way back avoiding a steep descent. Lovely countryside, plenty of orange groves, nice views from the top.

It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come , as numbers will be limited to about 20. Thank you.

Degree of difficulty : 2 (Moderate) but 3 ( Energetic) for one hill climb of about 100m.

Duration about 2 hours .

Meet at Cafe Casinhas ....probably not open for coffee though. If you drive on from Casinhas, about 0.5 km there is a little cafe on the left on the corner, probably open.

Start : 0930....as it's getting warmer.

Lunch We will not be organising nor staying for lunch on this occassion . Casinhas does do lunch, we have had good experience there, and one not so good! Norinho is always good, a short drive away, and there are plenty of places in Silves ( Chicken in the gutter etc).

Directions:
From CVO, drive to Silves and go over bridge, turn right.
At the roundabout, follow the N124 in direction of Messines.
After about 400m, almost opposite the Galp petrol station on your left, turn right on to " Turismo Rural".
Follow this for about 2.5 kms, when you will see the Cafe Casinhas on your right.

Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.

Unfortunately, I have damaged my knee and can't go on any walks. Linda and Russell have kindly agreed to lead in my place, my thanks to them have a good walk.

Everyone prompt so we started 10mins early. Lovely walk and a nice breeze. Finished in 2 hours. Just 8 walkers and 1 dog. Hope you are better soon Geoff.
