Walk Monday 10 June 2024
Walk Monday 10 June 2024
Hi all
We are back for a bit, but anyone around for a walk?
If so, we will be checking O Gralha out tomorrow , to see if open now it's under new owners....if so, walk will be there at 0930.
If not, probably from Ourique....if open, as bank holiday.
Watch this space, but pse say if you are likely to come.
Details TBA.
Geoff
UPDATE
O Gralha , under new people, will be open on monday.
It's a just over 2.5 hours and it has a couple of steady inclines, but is otherwise predominantly flat(ish).
Difficulty ( on a scale of 1:5) : most is 2 (moderate) but a short part is 3(energetic)
Start : 0930.....but please be there by 0915 if you want a coffee and order lunch.
Duration :about 2 hours 30 mins.
Optional lunch at O Gralha. The prato do Dia on a Monday is Barriga de Leitao no Forno ( Belly of suckling pig in the oven ) or Bacalhau a Bras. Half portion is 10€, full portion is 13€....to include entrada, main course, sobremesa and coffee....and 1 drink...so extra wine may be more, depending on what they call 1 drink! with tip, expect to pay around 15€ or 12€ if having smaller portion. ( There is an a la carte menu, but that is pricier).
Directions : drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.
Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right , drive through the village and O Gralha is at the end on the left. Please park opposite.
Map ref : 37.2535339,-8.3458896
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0800 on the day of the walk.
Please advise if you are intending to come, and whether you want lunch
Due to the recent increase in numbers, I am limiting this walk to a max of 20 people.
Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or before 0900, or email : geoffrey.j.hill@btopenworld.com
