Between Thursday the 16th and Sunday the 19th of September lovers of all forms of literature can join in with this feast of the written word called lit.ALGARVE.

The languages spoken will be either English, Portuguese, Swedish, Dutch, French or German and many well known writers have already accepted invitations to travel to the fair to do book signings, readings of their works, hold workshops and talk about their craft.

The festival is to be held throughout the Algarve from Tavira in the east and Aljezur to the west and some of the venues so far listed are The Auditorium and surrounding square in Lagoa, The Convento São José in Lagoa, the theatre TEMPO in Portimão, the Holiday Inn (Hotel Garbe) Armação de Pera, Quinta dos Vales Estombar, Hotel Hapimag Albufeira and the Museu.S. Bras de Alportel. Also the libraries (bibliotecas) in Olhão, Lagoa, S. Bras and Portimão are holding some encounters with authors.

Apart from this wonderful opportunity to browse amongst books and meet their authors, there will also be opportunities for spectator participation in open debates, workshops and a short story and poetry marathon.

Have you ever written a poem? Then this is the opportunity to have it heard and even judged in a poetry slam – never heard of a poetry slam? Hugely entertaining this event gives poets a chance to perform their work live in front of an audience who will then judge works by the level of their applause.

Various concerts, recitals and film viewing will accompany the festival and many hotels and restaurants will be joining in the literary spirit by holding culinary evenings accompanied by authors reading entertaining stories or plays.

Any writers, poets, publishers, or artists who feel they can enhance and further this gourmet celebration of the written word are invited to contact the organiser Barbara Fellgiebel at alfacult@gmail.com or visit the website http://www.alfacultura.com.

Anybody who would like to be part of this unique cultural initiative through providing transport, accommodation, sponsorship or memorable meals and experiences for the authors, please contact the organiser Barbara Fellgiebel at alfacult@gmail.com or visit the website http://www.alfacultura.com.
