I would like to compile a list of restaurant/bars that do NOT take Visa etc. for the establishments in FAQ.

Jardim do Farol, just outside Rocha Brava does not take them.

I'm wondering if it may have been easier to compile a list of those that DO. Suspect it may be a shorter list

Oasis accepts Multibanco debetcards.
Oasis will accept creditcards as soon as the commission on these cards goes down to an acceptable rate and NOT the 4,5% we would have to pay now. This very high rate that we small retail and restaurant owners have to pay is to compensate the very low rate they charge for big supermarkets and shops.

Believe that A Lanterna Velha does not take credit cards. I seem to recall dashing across the road to an ATM, even though they - very trustingly -offered to let us return and pay in the morning

Velha Lanterna are VERY trusting people! When the ATMs were down for several days a few years ago they told us to pay when we could get cash. Luckily some friends were in the restaurant at the time and we borrowed from them. That would never happen to strangers in Canada.

Fernando's stone steak at Monte Carvoeiro does (I think they all do up there) as does Chef Antonio's and O'Cantino.
