I agree that the standards were not very good for your meal, and as I said at the begining,I am sorry you had a bad meal there. Also agree that an establishment should have the same high standards each and every day. In a perfect world all would. All I was trying to say is that we have not experienced a bad meal in this restaurant in three years, and I hope you would be willing to maybe give them a second go, next time you are out in cvo.

Casa O Bife

Lesley Jean,

I take your comments on board and we will agree to dis-agree and perhaps we will re-try this place at the end of September. You have fought hard for this restaurant, so perhaps we will give it another chance!

Yours sincerely,

Dan&Mary

 Hi Dan & Mary, did you try this place again??? we went there three times during our summer vacation, during August, they were very busy but as usual we had no problems with the service or the food. I still recommend this place to anyone who likes steak or fish, they are polite, helpful and very caring.

Going out again in November and this will be our first port of call as soon as we have dumped the suitcases at the house......

We tried this restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Can't say it was the best place we've been.

We ordered two starters, three stone steaks, one pepper steak and a bitoque, it took ages for the starters and even longer for the main courses to appear, the pepper steak turning up way before the others because the waiter brought it to the wrong table , and by the time chips and potatoes arrived most of us had eaten half of our steaks :?

The food was good, no doubt about that, but it was just meat and potatoes no salad or vegetables. Which makes it very expensive when you look at what you get in other places (casa algarvia) for more or less the same price.

:? That is really weird, why is it that when anyone else goes there they don't have a good meal, we always get a dish of vegetables when we eat there, have yet to have any problems with the starters, main or puds???? I really just don't understand it. I am the sort of person who gets very irate if standards are not good, having been in the 'trade' for numerous years. :? :(

Casa do Bife

Hi guys
New here, but felt I had to agree with Lesley Jean. Casa do Bife is superb - the food, the service, the price, surroundings, everything. We ate there 4 times last week, (after it was recommended to us by Bill at Zombies). They were amongst some of the best evenings we've ever had in the Algarve!! The veg is cooked to perfection and the cheese potatoes are very moreish!!! I'd give it 100% thumbs up!

steak on stone/Casa Bifa

Post by SJ & RE »

 Had an excellent meal here on Sunday last week. Staff as usual friendly and chatty. They had run out of the cheese for couvert, oh no!!! he gets it from a village once a week to use in the restuarant and it is fab, sorry it had all gone, better luck next time.
For the person who commented about only doing large family parties here. Wrong. They cater for large or small parties, right from one person upwards. Best to book for large parties as you would any where, out of politeness.

 Hi Deborah1969 and Baggysallyjane glad you both liked this restaurant, we just love it, always such good food, wine and service and friendly staff, I always feel very comfortable eating here on my own if I come out during the winter on my own, also we have taken friends there and had a wonderful meal. I agree about the cheese potatoes...yummy.
We have had the steaks, swordfish, salmon, tuna and the Argentinian beef on the stone, as well as the chicken in wine sauce with either mushrooms or grapes, lovely. Also have asked for the swordfish and salmon just grilled (not on the stone) and it has been wonderful. I just can't fault the place. (Big fan... )

We were in CVO the first two weeks of March and tried this place for the first time, mostly on recommendations from this forum. We had the fillet, a sirloin and a mixed grill on the stone and it was fabulous.
Staff were very friendly and chatted us up a bit, since were had somehow beat the usual dinner rush.
This is our new favorite place to eat in CVO and we also want to say thank you to the wonderful Portuguese hosts who made our stay wonderful. :D
