O Barradas (Betwixt Lagoa and Silves on the old road)
We have been meaning to try this place ever since E-Richard told me about it about a year ago.
It is really excellent. Warm, welcoming, great atmosphere.....and wonderful, well cooked and presented food. What I would call "up-market Portuguese"
I had a hot sausage starter. Lovely.
One of our friends had a home-made tomato soup with prawns in it!! He loved it!!
3 of us had the Portuguese lamb stew....and it was gorgeous.
Julia had the seabass, and really enjoyed it.
The desserts and wine were excellent.
Its a special event place, abit like la Bella Vita at Clube Atlantico.
Id say O Barradas possibly shades it.
Try it....you wont be disappointed.
Cost?? About £30 a head with wine.

For more ten years, during every break in Carvoeiro (approx. 5/6 times a year) we never failed to pay O Barradas a visit.
The open kitchen, the service, the quality of food and Luis as a connoisseur of wine, make us O Barradas as the best restaurant of the region in his class.

Is this the place you past on the way to Silves golf course ?
If so we too have been tempted and based on these comments will visit.

Is there outdoor seating in the summer? Also, do they welcome well behaved young children?

Yes they have a nice outside area for eating and as with most Portuguese restaurants they love children.
I had a wonderful lamb stew at this restaurant it was so amazing I can't wait to go back and try it again.
