Portuguese to English translation needed

We've received a letter from our Portuguese mortgage providers but, unhelpfully, it's in Portuguese!

I can get the general gist of it but I think the letter contains some specific instruction with regard to our mortgage payments, so we need a proper translation and as soon as possible.

I was thinking of asking Sovereign if they would translate it; we're not in regular contact with our Portuguese lawyers so not sure I'd approach them.

Does anyone have any good ideas? I have a scanned pdf of the letter as well as a paper copy.

You could download google translate, or get your house buying solicitor to give you a translation.

Echoing Bruce's reply: we have had similar issues with this in the past. If you type "Portuguese into English translation" into Google, it comes up with several free translation options, eg http://www.freetranslation.com If you type or cut and paste the text into one of these it should give you a rough translation which will give you the sense of the document?

My son is a translator living in Lagos - if you feel you need a 'proper' translation then look at his website www.lamytranslations.com and contact him. Of course, I can't recommend him highly enough, but his references speak for themselves.

Thanks for your replies. A combination of Google translate plus SDL free translation gave me a decent English version.
