Leaking swimming pool

Post by DVBRO »

Have a bit of a major leak in my swimming pool, it has been for the past six months and appears to be getting worse. I have to top up an hour a day at the moment. I did not top up for six weeks, but could not find where the water was going, subsequently, the thing went a putrid green.
It is a large in ground Fibreglass Pool, with Paving all around. I can only assume that one of the Plastic drain Pipes is broken. If anyone knows of a competent person or Company that could possibly find the leak and repair it, I would appreciate the Contact information.

I would have thought that any competent plumber should be able to do a pressure test on the pipes to confirm that that is, or is not, where your problem lies. I have a similar problem at the moment (although not as serious as yours sounds) and a guy called Vital is looking at it for me. Vital, who I think only speaks Portuguese, can be contacted on 282 352 369 or 967 084 671. Good luck!

Contact mini-g by PM (Piscinas Oceanas) on this web-site. Repaired our old pool 5 years ago and no problems since.

Any idea of the labour cost to re-tile a 10 x 5 pool? I was quoted 6,000 euros, including removal of the existing tiles and relaying the new ones, seems very expensive?

We recently lost a lot of water from our pool through a faulty outlet. Our Pool maintenance guy fixed it for 30 euros - will probably cost more than that in refill costs, although luckily it was raining heavily at the time.

That was without the cost of the tiles, just labour and disposal costs.

I realise that - hence the question about the cost of the tiles - do you have a figure?

Matryx I had my pool in UK 30ft x 12ft tiled 20 yrs ago with the proper individual mosaic tiles, it cost then in 1990, £3600, that was with tiles supplied but the pool was new and the tiles were going on new waterproof render( so cost were for just supply and lay of tiles). I should imagine there will be a lot of work involved taking the old tiles off and making good all the render to take new tiles(assuming they will make good all surfaces) and that will be why the cost looks expensive, although to me the price doesn't look bad if it includes the labour of the tiling when compared with what we payed 20yrs ago. Have you priced your tiles up? I think proper mosaic tiles will be a lot dearer than say a tile with a mosaic pattern on, or are you just going for a normal blue or white tile.
You obviously need some more leads on prices for the job so you can compare.

Hi Shanagarry,

I had my pool done last summer.

The cost of mosaic tiles are 20Euros per sqmt, when having these type of tiles the corners of the pool and the bottom of the pool wall have to be curved into the floor of the pool then the mosaics will fit well and look good.

My pool is 8 m x 4 I had the deep end raised by 500mm the steps re done and all the corners shaped I paid around 5.500 Euros inc tiles and all materials.

You need to find somebody that knows what they are doing and use good quailty materials.

You can choose/buy the tiles on the road to lagos 5km before lagos on the left, they have fibreglass pools outside.

Thanks.

The cost of the tiles seems to vary depending upon where you go, but the most expensive were around 4,000 euros, making the complete job 10,000 euros, and that made my eyes water
