What an endless summer this is turning out to be, beginning of October and we are still at daytime temps around 26º C and it does not cool down at night either. I can't remember the last time it rained properly and the strange thing is, that most portuguese I speak to actually wish the heat and sunshine would finally end. Whilst tourists are leaving here with a huge smile on their faces, I'll bet the farmers would give anything for a few drops of rain right now - if it does not a rain a lot this winter, conservation will get a whole new meaning in 2005.

What a year 2004 - More sun, less tourists - ironic, isnt it?

Please, all you northern europeans, come and visit the algarve! Its a win-win situation - you get some much needed vitamin B and we get some much needed influx of cash to be able to pay for our water next year.

Does this mean you are going to be paying our household and heating bills to afford these visits Gambrinus?

Don't want to tempt providence Gambrinus,
but I have to say cautiously, that bookings for next year to our apartment
seem to be up already!. Maybe Euro 2004 has had a positive effect on tourism, perhaps people saw Portugal on the TV and are keen to visit next year!
As for the weather right now, please put up with it a while longer, till after our visit on the 20th October

I am confident that 2005 will show improvement, its the rest of 2004 im am worried about. Surely there must be people out there with some pennies left to take a few days holiday and enjoy some warm sunshine on our empty, secluded coves.

Well Im on my way in 11 days!!! Cant wait.
Although long range weather forcast is looking a little dodgy but hey how often do they get it right.
I know were Id rather be rain or no rain

Hi Gambrinus, I'm comming down to CVO at the 18th. October for a week to have my "every 4 months therapy to avoid that I'll suffer too much from my CVO addiction"! Comming with my daughter and a schoolfriend of her.

Just got back from the beach. Fabulous with seawater warmer than in August - or so it seemed to me.

Would love to be coming back to Carvoeiro right away, but work has to be done and for some reason they don't seem to think that the excuse that I want to help the local economy was valid enough. I even offered to open an office for them in CVO and they didnt like that either so I will have to wait till either a lottery win or April to come,

Suzy, you could always come to Texas and try your hand at cattle rustling.

well I have never thought of Catlle rustling do they still do that there? I used to live in Dallas many years ago (my dad was in USAF)

We are coming out on the 16 th for week so would appeciate laying off the rain dances till after then.

I have just bookd my Hire car through the site and looking forward to our first visit to CVO.

Thats very thoughtful of you, but if were able to promise something like that and keep the promise, well....I would be St. Peter - I would say you are a lot closer to being St. Peter than I am

We just came back from a short but nice 8 days stay at carvoeiro which seems to be going to be an Anual thing...........(Like you Peter I belevieve it turns into an addiction slowly but surely - )

We spend a lot of time on Caneiros beach where we also had many great meals.

In the evening we had dinner at: Chef Antonio , Paraiso Pizza, O Boteco, Mitch, L'orange, Mama Mia and Roma Restaurant. From all these L'orange we found best and Boteco the least good one!

We stayed at Carvoeiro Club which is quite distant from town so you surely need a car or bike if you wish to go there. I found it too quiet.

We gave my mum and dad ad Champagne breakfast as a present for their wedding anniversary. It was great !!! We ordered this via the owner of BOn BON restaurant At de Bruin (bonrest@clix.pt). They had champagne, Salmon, croissants, fresh orange juice and lots of things. It was served at the home we rented!

I really enjoyed my stay at CVO, hope to be back soon!
