First October visit

Post by garcia11 »

We'll be in Carvoeiro next week for our first out-of-season holiday, having previously been 5+ times in July/August with children. Interested in others' views on this time of year. Are all/most restaurants open? What is weather likely to be? What are the autumn must-dos and what is worth avoiding?
Can't wait to be out there.

you're not really going out of season, The Algarve goes pretty well full steam until the October half term holidays are over, end of October.

the sea can be really nice to get into & the town is lovely without the summer hoards, you're arguably going at the best time of the year, have fun 8)

We went out late October last year and had a great time. It was sunny and hot, all the restaurants were open and it wasn't quite so busy. We're coming out this Saturday. Can't wait.

We came out to CVO on Sept 30th last year for 9 days. Weather was glorious, and we were surprised how many people there were about - most of the restaurants seemed quite busy, though no problems finding somewhere. It was our first visit in October, and we found it a good idea to book, if we had already decided exactly where and when we wanted to eat.

Coming out on the 12th this year, hoping the weather will be as wonderful and the choice of eating places as good. There are some new places to try, so looking forward to visiting them too.

As I type it's 20C in the shade with a clear blue sky. Another 28C+ high in store. Centianes beach busier to my mind than previous years with a lot of German being spoken. Restaurants no problem at all and always somewhere to park.

We have been out in October before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Weather was usually very good and there was enough people around to make the bars/restaurants lively but never too busy to the point where it is uncomfortable.

Good time for cycling/walking if you are intrrested in that sort of thing as the roads are a little less congested and its not as hot as peak season but still pleasant.

Enjoy yourselves, its a great time of year in CVO :D

Thanks for your replies. Really looking forward to it now, although current weather forecast for our arrival day (Mon 5th) looks pretty poor - hopefully that will be isolated, if accurate.

Local forecast suggests showers on Monday and better thereafter. We're currently thinking of extending from next week to end of month..

What's happened to the weather? This is the first year we have had any rain in October. We were out for 2 weeks and had 6 days of rain. Forecast for the next week is not much better!
