Pool running costs

I was wondering if any fellow members of the forum have properties in Colina Branco. If you do, could you give me an idea of the monthly/annual costs involved in running your pool. We have a pool which is of a very similar size and are in the process of taking over the management of it. I would be particularly interested in the water consumption, as ours seems to be extremely high and we haven't gotten to the peak season yet. If you do not wish to discuss this an open forum, I would be very grateful if you could PM me as soon as possible. Thanks to all.

We have an 8x4M pool.
During hot weather, we expect evaporation of about 1", 2.5cm. Much more than that, you may have a leak!
We pay for a pool man, and if we run our airpump pool heating, it probably costs about 50 euro a week, not because of the heater, but the circulation pump runs 24 hours.

Thats about it.

We use our pool cover unless we are actually swimming. It cuts out water loss due to evaporation - which as Bruce says can be over an inch a day in hot weather, evaporation also had the secondary effect of cooling the pool by a few degrees. Using the cover also in the day it acts like a large radiator and heats the pool. Our pool keeps at about 30 degrees from May without using the heater by keeping the cover on. In winter if the pool has cooled down it costs a lot to bring it back up to temperature in February, but once up it is not too bad. In autum just topping up overnight in October/ November is not too costly.
