I'm truly sad to hear that. I had the pleasure of dining with Ellie in Carvoeiro on a couple of occasions when she was perky, mischievous and fascinating to listen to. She had a hard life after they returned from the Algarve, and I was sorry to lose touch.
Tricky, thanks for keeping us informed.

Very sad news.
Without doubt Ellie was the forum matriarch, a real one off.

such very sad news bless her, she ruffled feathers but was a great contributer on here. I was lucky enough to meet up with her quite a few times abd knew she had been poorly over the past years.

She ruffled feathers and caused huge posts which were great fun. I also met up with her a couple of times, dining at Columbo's which was her favourite haunt. That was before she became poorly.
RIP Ellie

I've merged the two parallel threads. This may explain some of the odd duplication, but I don't think any harm is done.
From memory, Ellie was a prolific poster, but also one of the first regular authors of the monthly Newsletter, then called "Ellies corner".
All her archives are still available at
