Should Carvoeiro be prioritised for Christmas decorations?

Should Carvoeiro be prioritised for Christmas decorations at the expense of Lagoa?
Hi there forum!
I thought I would start to take a bit of a role on the forum and would love to use this space for some discussion - everyone's opinions are welcomed!
We all know that Carvoeiro is the main draw for tourists in Lagoa and brings in huge amounts of revenue for the area, so why should Lagoa get the benefit of this with lights, trees and nativity scenes while Carvoeiro once again gets nothing. Carvoeiro needs a stronger voice!
I know we have the Christmas fair coming up but perhaps something more would help trade at this time of year?
Any suggestions?

No suggestions but I do agree with you, some lights and a tree would give a more festive feel to the town.

I know of at least a couple of local businesses who have said they would be happy to contribute to the cost of some Christmas decorations in the town.
But calling on businesses again is a tough one, especially when they already have so much to pay out before they even open their doors - could we not work as a community to do something?

Are you talking about asking the forum community for donations or the residents?

No! No asking for money at all from anyone, I just mean that perhaps if we all put pressure on the local council then maybe changes could be made - it needn't cost anything if we just have some of the decorations from Lagoa moved into Carvoeiro!

For the last (at least) two years I can't say I saw any decorations in Lagoa! Perhaps they were tucked away in a side street.
Good idea all the same.

Noticed Christmas lights in the shape of Christmas trees have gone up in the square in CVO

Sadly over the years tourism has declined over the Xmas period, and this year there are so few people in the Carvoeiro area, that any lights, trees or other Xmas festivities would have been a waste of money.
Having said that, thank goodness for the few businesses that have stayed open and tried to bring some festive cheer to the town.
The big problem seems to be the cost of flights from most European destinations, coupled with the closure of most of the hotels in town, and that has had an enormous knock on effect to the numbers who have come in previous years.
Thumbs up to the following businesses who are at least open.
A Boa Vida
Carvoeiro Bar
Jota Lita
Casa de Bife
Maximes
Mirage
Jokers
The Wolf
Rascals
Sully's
Hemingways
Harrys Bar
Mungos - Thurs Fri Sat
Chinese and Indian Restaurants
Villa Medici
Vimar
These guys need your support if you are able to get over, and if you come later in the year, remember that they are the true supporters of Carvoeiro and its tourists.
Maybe there should be some sort of plaque for the Heart and Soul businesses of Carvoeiro, to let people see that they care about the village and it's visitors, rather than those who just care about the summer money.
