Looking for a source for thick sliced bacon (not smoked) has anybody found a butcher in the Algarve that does it.

Only seen the pre-packed stuff in the supermarkets or on the deli counter they have pieces of cured stuff which you could ask to be sliced. Don't know whether it's smoked or not though.

I would suggest the municipal fresh food market in Portimao. There are loads of butchers there plus deli counters so I'm sure you could find it there.

Iceland at Guia - buy it from the meat counter- its better than the pre-packed stuff inside.
Also if you like it really thick, buy a gammon joint and slice it yourself

I agree...the butchery counter at Iceland sells Irish bacon, and is the best quality for we bacon butty lovers!

The CEO of Iceland on the Andrew Marr prog this morning, Iceland does not sell or manufacture " cheap processed foods " ???
No horse meat has been found in any supermarket product in the UK.
Fills you with confidence about anything produced by this company ???

I did not go on the BBC and mislead the public, don't blame me for comments of the guy who runs Iceland.
Do I feel smug having commented before on the crap that goes into processed foods, you bet I do.
